Computed tomography of teeth (CT) is an innovative diagnostic method that provides a detailed three-dimensional (3D) image of the teeth, roots, bone tissue, and the entire maxillofacial region. The technology is based on the principle of layer-by-layer scanning: the device takes multiple images from different angles, after which a specialized program forms a three-dimensional model of the area under examination.
Unlike traditional X-rays, which produce a two-dimensional image, CT allows the doctor to see the anatomy of the dentofacial system in its entirety, including the smallest details. This is especially important when planning implant placement, root canal treatment, atypical tooth extraction, or injury assessment.
In terms of safety, computed tomography does indeed use X-rays, but the dose is significantly lower than with conventional X-rays, especially when using modern CBCT machines (our clinic has one of these). The procedure takes only a few minutes and is considered safe even for children (when indicated) and elderly patients.

The data obtained is automatically processed by the program, creating a detailed three-dimensional model of both jaws.
The doctor is able to study the structure of bone tissue, teeth, roots, canals, paranasal sinuses, and joints in minute detail. Depending on the purpose of the examination, a CT scan of the maxillofacial region, a CT scan of all teeth, or other types of examinations may be performed.
The finished images and conclusion can be obtained on the same day or the next day.
This is the most accurate and informative diagnostic method, allowing the detection of hidden pathologies that cannot be identified using standard X-rays. The main advantage of CT is that it provides a highly detailed three-dimensional image. The doctor can see the teeth, bone tissue, roots, canals, paranasal sinuses, joints, and other anatomical structures in cross-section and in volume.
This visualization is especially important when planning implantations, surgical interventions, and the treatment of cysts, granulomas, fractures, and inflammations. CT allows you to accurately measure the height and thickness of bone tissue, assess density, and identify hidden canals and microcracks. This eliminates the risk of errors and improves the quality of treatment, especially in complex clinical cases and repeat therapy.
