Indications for installation
The main indication is the absence of one or more consecutive teeth.
The location of the defect in the dental arch is irrelevant. Due to their strength and ideal appearance, zirconium prostheses are effective in restoring both chewing teeth in the lateral sections of the dental arch and front teeth in the smile zone.
Another indication is an allergy to metal or other components of metal-ceramic prostheses. The 100% biocompatibility of zirconium makes the installation of prostheses made of this material the optimal solution for patients with allergies, as well as people with sensitive mucous membranes.

Preparation of supporting teeth
The installation of a zirconium dental bridge involves grinding the enamel and, if necessary, treating the root canals of the supporting teeth. This is necessary because the supporting crowns of the prosthesis will be installed on them. The depth and volume of such grinding is 0.3–0.5 mm less compared to metal-ceramic dental bridges. This is quite a lot, considering the small volume of tooth enamel and dentin. It is possible to reduce the volume of tissue removed because zirconium bridges are thinner than metal-ceramic ones.
Manufacturing and installation
The dentist assesses the condition of the teeth to be ground down and, if necessary, carries out treatment.
Then, the supporting teeth are prepared (ground) for the prosthesis, after which impressions are taken — either by traditional means or using an intraoral 3D scanner. Next, a digital model of the future bridge is created.
The zirconium dioxide framework is manufactured using a high-precision milling machine (CAD/CAM technology). This ensures a perfect fit for the structure. After milling, the dental technician manually polishes and gives the bridge a natural color, and, if necessary, applies ceramic layers.
The finished prosthesis is tried on in the patient's mouth, adjusted if necessary, and then fixed with special dental cement. After just a few hours, the patient can return to their normal lifestyle.
The entire process takes no more than 10 days.
Service life of a zirconium dental bridge
The service life depends on care and the clinical situation, but on average it is 10 to 15 years. Unlike metal ceramics, zirconium retains its aesthetics and integrity even under intense chewing loads throughout its entire service life.
