Ceramic crown on an implant

High aesthetics and biocompatibility are the main advantages of ceramic crowns. These crowns are often chosen for front teeth due to the material's ability to imitate the natural appearance of teeth. These crowns do not change color over time, which is also important for aesthetics. Ceramic crowns have a long service life, but it is important to visit your dentist regularly for professional hygiene. At «Club 32», you can be confident in the quality of the work performed and the professional support provided. We not only create beauty and functionality, but also restore confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Is tooth devitalization needed under crown?

Not always, modern technologies often allow keeping the tooth alive.

Does crown differ from a real tooth?

No, modern crowns fully imitate natural tooth color and shape.

Can I have consultations with several specialists in one day?

Yes, in many cases you can consult several specialists during one visit to the clinic. This helps create a complete treatment plan faster.

Why can a tooth become sensitive to hot or cold after treatment?

A tooth may temporarily become sensitive after treatment due to tissue reaction to the procedure. It usually passes within a few days or weeks.

Is it possible to save a tooth that another clinic recommended removing?

In some cases, a tooth can still be saved using modern treatment methods. The final decision depends on the tooth condition after diagnostics.

Ceramic crowns on implants - perfect aesthetics and reliability, just like your natural teeth

Ceramic crowns are a modern, fashionable, and popular method of restoring the integrity of the dentition among patients. Excellent reliability, impeccable aesthetics, and precise conformity to the natural anatomy make ceramic crowns the optimal solution for restoring lost teeth, especially in the smile zone.

Metal-free ceramics perfectly convey the color, transparency, and structure of enamel. Visually, such crowns are indistinguishable from natural teeth in perfect condition.

The orthopedists at «Club 32», a family dental clinic in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, have many successful cases of restoring lost teeth in their portfolio using artificial root implantation (implants) followed by the installation of ceramic crowns.

We practice an individual approach to prosthetics – we develop a unique treatment plan for each patient, allowing us to install a ceramic crown on an implant, taking into account the specifics of the clinical situation, wishes, and at an affordable price. In addition, you can pay for the cost of treatment in installments and without overpaying.

Stages of manufacturing and installing a ceramic crown on an implant

Implant prosthetics is a multi-stage process that requires careful preliminary planning. At our dental clinic, implantation and subsequent prosthetics are considered part of a single treatment plan aimed at fully restoring the function and aesthetics of the dentition. Therefore, from the very beginning of treatment, the orthopedist works closely with the implant surgeon.

In the first stage, the team of doctors performs a comprehensive diagnosis:

  • scans the oral cavity
  • analyzes the bite
  • evaluates the volume and quality of bone tissue
  • if necessary, a CT scan is performed (the examination is carried out at our clinic)

Based on the data obtained, digital planning of the implantation is performed. The position of the implant is calculated so that the crown does not interfere with the bite after fixation. Particular attention is paid to the parameters of the future prosthetic structure - its shape, size, and position in the dental arch. These characteristics determine the location, angle, and depth of the implant. This approach allows us to predict the outcome of treatment in advance and ensure long-term and trouble-free operation of both the implant and the crown.

The next stage is implantation. The use of a surgical template ensures that the digital model of the implant placement strictly corresponds to its actual position in the bone. If necessary, bone grafting (bone augmentation) is performed before implantation. After the implant is placed, the osseointegration (implant healing) period begins. Depending on the type of implant and the clinical picture, this can take from several weeks to several months.

After successful osseointegration, a gum former is placed on the implant to create the correct contour of the soft tissues around the future crown. The former is then replaced with an abutment, which is a connecting element between the implant and the prosthetic structure. Next, digital scanning or impressions are taken, on the basis of which a crown is manufactured in a dental laboratory. During its production, color, shape, and transparency are taken into account so that the crown fits the patient's dentition as accurately as possible.

At the final stage, the orthopedist places the ceramic crown on the implant and checks the accuracy of the fit and occlusion. If necessary, minor adjustments are made immediately. After confirming the correct position, the crown is permanently fixed in place.

The price of installing a ceramic crown on an implant depends on several factors:

  • the class of the implant
  • the need for bone grafting
  • the class of ceramic crown (zirconium, lithium silicate E.max, lithium silicate with zirconium reinforcement, or feldspar)

Advantages and disadvantages of installing a ceramic crown on an implant

Flawless aesthetics are the main advantage of this type of crown. Ceramic imitates the color, transparency, and structure of natural tooth enamel as closely as possible, so that a crown placed on an artificial root after implantation is visually indistinguishable from your own teeth. This is especially important when restoring teeth in the smile zone. In addition, these crowns do not contain metal, which eliminates the risk of darkening of the gums and the appearance of a gray edge at the neck of the tooth.

Functionality is another significant advantage. A ceramic crown fully restores chewing function, and the implant evenly distributes the load on the bone tissue, preventing bone atrophy in the area of the lost tooth.

In addition, ceramic crowns are resistant to wear and tear and, with proper care, will serve you for up to 15 years.

It is also worth noting the biocompatibility of these structures. Ceramics are well accepted by the tissues of the oral cavity, do not cause allergic reactions, and are suitable for patients with increased sensitivity to metal alloys.

The disadvantages include a higher cost of treatment compared to some alternative types of prosthetics.

Service life of a ceramic crown on an implant

If the doctor's recommendations are followed and regular professional hygiene is maintained, the service life of this type of crown can exceed fifteen years. During this time, ceramic crowns on implants retain their full functionality and excellent aesthetic properties. The durability and trouble-free operation of the orthopedic structure is influenced by the quality of the implant, the precision of the crown's manufacture, and the condition of the surrounding tissues. It is important to remember that even the most innovative, high-quality implants require enhanced home hygiene—the use of an irrigator is mandatory for such patients—and regular visits to the clinic for professional hygiene and preventive examinations. When treating patients, the orthopedists at Club 32 always pay close attention to bite control and chewing load distribution, which contributes to the durability of the structure.
