Nylon dental prosthetics

Nylon prostheses are a good solution for partial dental prosthetics, because thanks to the material, they fit snugly to the gums, are invisible, and are easy to care for. Due to their aesthetic appeal, they are primarily recommended for front teeth. For chewing teeth, which are subject to heavy loads, doctors may offer a more durable design.
We consider treatment options on an individual basis each time. Our doctors ensure that you receive a solution that will restore both aesthetics and functionality. We work with your health in mind.

Nylon dental prosthetics — gentle restoration of comfort and aesthetics

Modern dentistry offers many options for restoring lost teeth. Nylon prosthetics is one of them. The advantages of this type of prosthesis are softness, comfort, and aesthetics. In addition, they can be used to completely restore the functionality and appearance of the dentition without surgical intervention. The ability of nylon to easily adapt to the individual characteristics of the oral cavity without causing irritation or discomfort is another advantage of dental prostheses made from this material. In addition, new technologies for digital scanning of the oral cavity and the production of orthodontic structures make soft dental prosthetics more accurate, comfortable, and durable.

The orthopedists at Club 32, a family dental clinic in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, have many successful cases of manufacturing and installing nylon dentures for patients of all ages in their portfolio.

We practice an individual approach to prosthetics—we develop a unique treatment plan for each patient, allowing us to install a prosthesis that takes into account their specific characteristics and wishes at an affordable price.

As a result, you get an affordable, flexible dental prosthesis at a reasonable price and maximum comfort during all dental procedures. In addition, you can pay for prosthetics in installments and without overpaying.

Types of removable nylon dentures:

  • Full. Used in cases of complete tooth loss (edentulism). It is held in place by suction to the mucous membrane. This design can be installed on either the upper or lower jaw, or on both jaws simultaneously
  • Partial. Designed to replace several missing teeth. Clasps, flexible retaining elements also made of nylon, are used to secure it
  • "Butterfly." Suitable for replacing one, two, or three adjacent teeth. The design has a miniature base and is secured with soft nylon clips that wrap around the adjacent supporting teeth. The prosthesis gets its name from the characteristic shape of the fasteners

The choice of a specific nylon denture model, as well as its cost, depends on the number of missing teeth, the size of the prosthetic structure, and the overall clinical situation. For example, the price of a butterfly-type nylon denture may be significantly lower than the cost of a full arch prosthesis. We can provide you with a detailed consultation and an individual cost estimate.

How is a nylon denture fixed?

The reliability of the attachment is ensured by the precision of the design and the elasticity of the nylon. Dentures are made to perfectly match the shape of the gums and thus fit as tightly as possible. Thanks to the flexibility of the structure, the denture does not require metal hooks or other fasteners: fixation is achieved through the precise fit and elasticity of the material itself. This makes the use of this type of denture particularly relevant for patients with metal allergies or highly sensitive mucous membranes.

Pros and cons of nylon dentures

The main advantages include:

  • comfort when wearing due to softness
  • aesthetic appearance — the material is translucent and does not stand out against the gums
  • hypoallergenic
  • no metal parts
  • lightweight construction

However, this type of prosthesis also has some disadvantages:

  • increased wear compared to acrylic counterparts;
  • lower resistance to chewing loads;
  • the cost of a nylon prosthesis is higher than that of acrylic counterparts

Indications and contraindications for the installation of flexible nylon dentures

Indications:

  • Partial or complete edentulism (absence of several or all teeth);
  • Metal intolerance;
  • Need for rapid restoration of the dentition

Contraindications:

  • Advanced forms of periodontitis. In the case of pronounced changes in the tissues surrounding the teeth, the installation of a prosthesis may be difficult or impossible
  • Clinical cases in which it is impossible to ensure stable fixation of the structure. These include, for example, situations in which the supporting teeth are too low and do not allow the prosthesis to be held securely
  • Atrophy of the gum line. In this case, the anatomy of the prosthesis support is disrupted, and reliable fixation becomes impossible
  • Increased tooth mobility. This creates difficulties for fixation and may affect the service life of a removable nylon denture

Severe jawbone atrophy is also a relative contraindication. In this case, bone grafting (bone augmentation) must first be performed. Only then is further orthopedic treatment possible.

Service life of removable nylon dentures

The service life depends on the quality of the material, care conditions, and the characteristics of the oral cavity. On average, nylon dentures last from 3 to 5 years. With careful use and regular visits to the dentist, this period may be extended.

Care for soft removable dentures

To keep your dentures in good condition, you need to:

  • Clean them daily with a soft brush;
  • Do not use hot water for rinsing;
  • Store them in a special container;
  • Have them checked by a dentist every six months

These measures will extend the life of the prosthesis and maintain the health of your oral cavity.

Tips for adapting to soft dentures

The adjustment period can take from a few days to 2-3 weeks. To speed up the adaptation process:

  • Wear the dentures every day, even if you experience minor discomfort
  • a soft food diet is recommended during the adaptation period;
  • avoid sticky foods at first;
  • gently massage your gums;
  • at the first signs of rubbing, consult your doctor for correction

Regular dental check-ups help to eliminate discomfort in a timely manner and extend the life of the dentures.

Nylon dentures are a modern, comfortable, and safe solution for partial or complete tooth loss. We offer high-quality nylon dentures that are perfect for you.
