How to fall asleep without pharmacology

An unexpected way to fall asleep faster

You know about our love for science and learning, right?)

So, especially for you, relying on evidence-based medicine and formal logic, we have developed a "recipe" for a fast-acting and useful "sleep aid".

Here is how it works.

The process of falling asleep in our brain is triggered by the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus (SCN). This area is activated by a neurotransmitter called vasopressin.

Like most neurotransmitters, vasopressin is involved in many types of brain activity. Among other things, it plays an important role in memory and learning processes.

Have you guessed it yet?)

That is right - to fall asleep, you need to study. And this is not a joke.

When it is already time to go to bed, but sleep refuses to come, turn on an educational lecture in your headphones, preferably in English. There are many of them, for example, on the Royal Institution channel.

Just do not look at the screen, because this slows down the release of melatonin - the hormone that helps you fall asleep.

Just close your eyes and listen.

It is not certain that you will remember anything, but sleep will definitely come quickly.

Tested in practice many times. It works!
